Silver Spring Ambulance & Rescue Association responded to a record number of emergency calls in 2014.

Of the 1,675 dispatches, 1,062 were medical emergencies, 263 for were, and 134 vehicle emergencies. Most of those dispatches were to residences, followed by street/highway locations.  Municipalities 1,460 of the total calls were within Silver Spring Township and Middlesex Township, which is the primary response area of the Silver Spring Ambulance.

The most frequent destination of the transports was Holy Spirit Hospital, followed West Shore Hospital, recently opened by PinnacleHealth. Patients were transported to six other regional hospital destinations.  Patients are transported to the hospital of their choice and most appropriate for their medical care.

Chief Deborah Hoffman expressed her satisfaction with the ability of the ambulance crews to respond quickly and dependably to these calls for assistance. The Cumberland County Dispatch Center records indicate that the ambulance crew’s typical time from radio dispatch to responding is less than two minutes.
