The Sarah Lynn Strohman Foundation was established locally in September of 2008 by family and friends of Sarah Strohman to provide support to individuals with special needs and their families. While Sarah was considered an adult, she was physically and mentally the age of a four year old but before she passed away, she was the guiding force in creating a day program for adults with special needs in the Mechanicsburg area. Participants can now go to learn new tasks, work and volunteer in the community and socialize with others."

Because of her love of helping others, the Sarah Lynn Strohman Foundation wants to continue on with the work she started but was never able to complete.   The “Elmo’s for Sarah” program donates Elmo’s to local emergency first responders, shelters, hospitals, and youth centers to give to children in a crisis situation.    Silver Spring Ambulance is honored to have received a box of Elmo's to distribute as we encounter patients in need of emotional first aid.
