Refurbished Ambulance 1-72 Arrives

Silver Spring Ambulance and Rescue Association has accepted delivery of a newly refurbished ambulance. This ambulance replaces Ambulance 1-72, which was several years old and was requiring significant service and repairs.

Featuring a brand new 2015 Chevrolet diesel chassis, utilizing the previous ambulance patient compartment body refurbished and remounted on the new chassis. The patient compartment body has been completely refurbished in the plant that manufactured it originally, with new floor, new LED lights inside and out, painted, and other refurbishment touches made. The new ambulance will be fully serviced and inspected by Lawrence Chevrolet, then inspected and licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health.

While the practice of a re-chassis has been available in the ambulance business for many years, it is new to this area. It is estimated that this practice has reduced the cost of this ambulance replacement by more than $40,000. Personal or business contributions toward the cost of the refurbished ambulance will be applied to this expense and are fully income tax deductible.
