This weekend crews are replacing the 10th Street bridge in Lemoyne, closing a busy section of Route 581 in Cumberland County.

Route 581 eastbound in Lemoyne will be closed to traffic beginning Friday at 9pm, continuing through the weekend until Monday at 6am. The suggested detour is from Route 581 west through the US 15 interchange to Interstate 81 north.

Westbound Route 581 drivers will encounter a left-lane restriction and some intermittent traffic stoppages.

During the work, local traffic on 10th Street will also be detoured. Drivers will be directed from Lowther Street to 3rd Street and Hummel Avenue.

Weather permitting, the second work weekend will begin on June 12.  PennDOT says 86,000 vehicles use the bridge daily.

Graduation ceremonies held in Hershey, including Cumberland Valley High School, may contribute to traffic delays.  Drivers are advised to plan ahead and find an alternate route.  Additional congestion around the Harrisburg/Carlisle area due to a car show event in Carlisle.
