AMBULANCE
At this
time of year we give you the opportunity to subscribe to the Silver Spring
Ambulance and Rescue Association. We provide our emergency service to all of
Silver Spring Township, and portions of Middlesex and Monroe Townships. Your
subscription will assist us in continuing to provide the highest level of
service to the communities we serve. The Association’s ambulances responded to
over 1500 calls for assistance during 2007. Those calls included medical
emergencies, fire calls, and standby services to sporting and community events.
SUBSCRIPTION
FEES ARE NEEDED TO PAY OUR BILLS
Subscription
fees are important to paying our bills and are the second largest source of
income, at 25% of income.
We
receive no funding from the newly enacted 2008 Silver Spring Township Fire Tax.
Silver
Spring Ambulance is an independent non-profit corporation, and is not affiliated
with any fire company. We do work closely together.
Our

projected operating budget for 2008 is $448,790.
We need
your subscription fees to pay our bills.
SUBSCRIBER
BENEFITS
For your
subscription fee, you are provided with emergency ambulance care, transport and
paramedic service if necessary. We also provide you with the best-updated
equipment. Your subscription covers all members of your immediate household. You
will be transported to the hospital of your choice within a 30-mile radius,
unless your medical condition warrants immediate transport to a hospital that is
closer and/or more medically appropriate. Your subscription does not cover
non-emergency transports.
RATE
IS $70
All
subscriptions will be $70.00 effective April 1, 2008, and will cover a period of
one year. Thirty-five dollars of each membership received will be sent to West
Shore Advanced Life Support for Paramedic Services. Your benefits will become
effective 24 hours after receipt of your subscription payment.
YOUR
INSURANCE
We are
required to seek reimbursement from your insurance company for services rendered
as a part of your insurance policy agreement. If you are a subscriber of the
Association, we will accept whatever your insurance provider remits as payment,
and will not bill the balance to you. However you will still be responsible for
payment of any insurance deductible or co payment. Non-subscribers are billed
directly for the full amount for services rendered by both the Silver Spring
Ambulance and Rescue Association and West Shore Advanced Life Support.
STATE
LICENSED
We are
licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Health to provide these services to
the communities we serve. All of our patient attendants are State Certified
Emergency Medical Technicians, (EMT), with many hours of continuous training. We
strive to provide you with the highest level of care, should you ever be in need
of an ambulance.
If the
nature of your medical emergency requires paramedic services, West Shore Advance
Life Support paramedics will automatically be dispatched along with our
ambulance. Silver Spring Ambulance and West Shore ALS are two separate services.
We work very closely together.
INFORMATION
PRIVACY
Because
of privacy of information concerns, your Social Security and Medicare
information will no longer be requested as part of your subscription
application. However, at the time of an ambulance service you will be requested
to furnish this information for billing purposes.

This is
the amount that will be billed. Your insurance may pay a portion of this cost.
If you are a subscriber you will not be billed any balance beyond your co
payment or deductible.
COMMUNITY
SERVICE
In
addition to ambulance service our volunteers perform community service. We stand
by at community athletic events, such as football and soccer games. We do blood
pressure screenings. We teach CPR and First Aid. We give tours to groups such as
Cub Scouts and school groups. We teach First Aid Merit Badge to Boy Scouts.
WE
ARE VOLUNTEERS
The
Silver Spring Ambulance and Rescue Association, Inc. is a predominately
volunteer, community service organization. We respond 24 hours per day, 365 days
per year. Many volunteer hours are spent in training and doing support tasks
such as clerical work, building and lawn care, and other services.

We are
always in need of interested people to volunteer for this rewarding job. If you
are interested in helping us to continue serving the community, please

maintain our high level of emergency care.
